My aim as an artist is to reveal the world through my own eyes and to invite the viewer to pause, ask questions and notice details
My creative journey began
in my childhood
As a child, I loved drawing, crafting, and engaging in all kinds of creative activities. I have always been drawn to the process of developing my manual skills and using them to create new worlds.
My aim as an artist is to reveal the world through my own eyes and invite the viewer to pause, ask questions, and notice details
I am primarily inspired by contradictions, the tension between the natural and the artificial, and time spent in nature.
Studying at the Estonian Academy of Arts gave my creative thinking a theatrical approach, which is also recognisable in my work today.
My creativity is sparked by moving slowly on foot or by bicycle—it allows me to notice more of what surrounds me. Many ideas also emerge through dreams and meditative states.
Iga maali sünd on kordumatu teekond
From the moment an idea emerges, I have a clear vision of the image and its composition throughout the entire process, and I create the work largely guided by this inner vision.
I rarely feel the need to sketch or plan my work in advance — rather, I write down my ideas in detail and use my own photographs as references.
The execution is never the same for any painting. Each work has its own spirit and rhythm, which requires a fresh and individual approach every time.
My work primarily combines realism, surrealism, and abstraction, and I mainly use acrylics on canvas.
